According to the Prospect Hill Association’s book, “Paul was a private in Co E of the 13th Minnesota. He died on October 4, 1898, in Manilla, Philipines of Tuberculosis. His remains were placed temporarily in the receiving vault at Prospect Hill Cemetery.” 

This is one of my favorite monuments at Prospect Hill.  It apparently was a popular style,  since I've seen it used elsewhere for military graves.
