Jacob Shull's farm served as an ad hoc cemetery in the days before Prospect Hill was formed, so he must have been one of Omaha's first settlers. It sat in and around the 26th and Poppleton area, which is a good distance from Prospect Hill. He set aside two parcels of land for burials, and at one time Thomas Cuming, acting Territorial Governor, was buried there, as were many others. Most of the people interred there were moved, after the area was settled, to other cemeteries.
